At East Brisbane and Buranda Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) we are committed to providing a safe and fun environment where children develop their social and emotional skills to become happier and more productive learners.
Features of the EBCC OSHC:
- Planned weekly programs are developed to expose children to challenging, interesting and fun activities based on their current skills and interests.
- Children’s ideas and interests are prioritised to lead into spontaneous activities. This allows for children to have control and freedom over their environment and activities furthering their skills and abilities no matter what their capabilities are.
- OSHC use the My Time, Our Place framework as a guide to child interactions, activities, and opportunities that the children have access to.
- Staff who are studying and/or hold a range of qualifications. These include Certificate III in Children Services, Diploma of Community Services, Bachelor of Education, and Masters of Early Childhood Education.
- Healthy food of a balanced diet planned and provided for children in the afternoons during school care. We also provide morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea during vacation care.
- Vacation care includes excursions and incursions. Some excursions that have occurred recently are to skating rinks, indoor rock climbing, Gallery of Modern Art, movies, local parks, the Sciencentre, Sizzler, Newmarket pool, and Laserforce.
- Some incursions that come to our centre have included a petting zoo, jumping castles, magician, laser tag, marine animal zoo, candle makers, BeatBus, and clay spinning wheels.
- We have access to the East Brisbane State School’s swimming pool during vacation care, wood working equipment, iPad 1 16Gb, PlayStation 2 among many other sporting equipment, board games, arts and craft and resources.
